# Pan and Zoom

## Using Pan and Zoom

{% hint style="info" %}
Pan and zoom is a feature for our **Pro, Growth, and Enterprise plans**.
{% endhint %}

### **What are pan and zoom in Arcade?**

Pan and zoom draw your viewer’s attention by automatically focusing on a specific area of the screen.

### How do I add pan and zoom to my Arcade?

To add pan and zoom:

1. Click the *Pan & Zoom* tool from the top editing toolbar.
2. A blue zoom frame will appear on the screen.
3. Drag the frame to reposition it anywhere you want to focus.
4. Resize the frame by pulling the corners. The frame will maintain a rectangular or square shape.

*Tip: Zooming in too close may result in a blurry image.*

You can click *Preview* to see the zoom in action before publishing.

### How can I customize the zoom behavior?

When editing a pan and zoom effect, you can adjust:

* *Easing*: Set the speed style to *Gentle*, *Quick*, or *Slow* for how the zoom animation feels.
* *Delay*: Choose how long to wait before the zoom activates.

You’ll see these settings on the right-hand editing panel after placing your zoom frame.

### How do I create a panning effect between steps?

You can create a smooth panning (side-to-side) movement between steps by:

1. Copying the pan and zoom with ⌘C and pasting it on the next step with ⌘V.
2. Ensuring/Setting the same zoom frame size and shape on the two different steps.
3. Positioning the frame slightly differently between steps.

When the frame size remains consistent but the position changes, the Arcade will *pan* rather than *zoom in or out* between steps.

*This creates a clean gliding effect instead of jumping or zooming.*

## **Auto Pan and Zoom**

### **Why is my Arcade moving around automatically?**

Arcade automatically adds **"**Auto Pan and Zoom**"** to your steps when it detects a large area or hotspot that benefits from focus. This helps guide viewers and improves readability, especially on complex screens. \
\
You can manually adjust or remove these zooms during editing if you prefer a static view.

### Why wasn't Pan and Zoom applied automatically?

Pan and Zoom is automatically applied only when recording with interactive. Video capture, wether with the desktop app or extension, does not have auto P\&Z.

You can always manually add your own Pan and Zoom afterwards for all Arcades (Interactive and Video) and for both ways of capturing (Extension and App).
