Insights allow you to understand how viewers and players interact with your Arcade.
The feature is divided into two pages: Flow Insights (available with the Growth plan) and Overview Insights (available with all plans).
While you’re editing an Arcade, click on “Insights” in the top navigation bar to view deeper Insights about that specific flow, including details about each step’s performance.
On the left-hand sidebar of Arcade, you’ll find the “Insights” tab. This shows a list of all your Arcades and their current metrics. From here, you can click on any Arcade to jump directly to its Flow Insights.
- Viewers measures the size of your Arcade’s audience. To increase the number of Viewers, consider placing the Arcade more prominently on your website or promoting more traffic.
- Completion Rate measures how engaging your Arcade is. To increase the Completion Rate, keep your Arcade short and sweet, and make sure the user always has a good reason to keep clicking through the steps.
- CTA Click Rate measures the intent of your audience to learn more after seeing your Arcade. To increase the CTA Click Rate, try out different messages to see what resonates most.
- Average Play Time measures how long users spend on your Arcade.
- If your Arcade is an explainer, you’ll want to minimize this to make sure users are getting their questions answered fast. Fewer steps and shorter text can help here.
- For larger product tours, you may want to maximize this to increase exposure to your product and brand — consider adding multiple chapters or even branches.
- Performance measures how engaging each step of the Arcade is. To increase conversion from one step to the next, make sure both the screenshot and the hotspot text are compelling and understandable.

We crunch new data every 10 minutes and the crunching itself can take up to 3 minutes.
We’ll be adding this to the Settings page soon, but for now, you can contact us to update the time zone for your team or account. Pacific Time is used as the default.
After changing your time zone, please allow 20 minutes for your data to be recomputed.
For each Arcade, we measure a few different things:
- We only count a View if the Arcade was actually visible on the user’s screen. So, if you have an Arcade at the bottom of your web page and the user never scrolls down to see it, that doesn’t count as a View.
- Specifically, at least 90% of the Arcade’s pixels must be visible for at least 3 seconds.
- The number of unique users who Viewed your Arcade.
- “Unique” means that if the same person (using the same browser) views your Arcade more than once in the given time period, it only counts as one Viewer.
- The number of unique viewers who played your Arcade — meaning they clicked on it or interacted in some way.
- Play Rate
- The percentage of Viewers who became Players (see above!)
- Completion Rate
- The percentage of Players who completed your Arcade.
- Completion means reaching a “final step” — a step that has no hotspots or video. In most Arcades, this is simply the last step, but if you have a more complex branching flow, there may be multiple final steps. If the Player reaches any final step, it counts as completion.
- Average Play Time
- How long an average Player spends interacting with your Arcade.
- This is measured as the time between their first click and their last click.
- Also known as a “drop-off curve” or “funnel”, this is a bar chart showing the number of Players who reached each individual step in the Arcade.
- This chart is shown on the Flow Insights page. Hover over each step to reveal the percentage who converted (clicked a hotspot) and dropped off (stopped playing) after the previous step.
This makes the Play Rate metric more actionable. If we counted every page load as a View (like we used to) then we’d be counting users who never saw the Arcade at all, plus any bots and crawlers that visit your page, making the Play Rate noisier and harder to optimize.
This means that if a user clears their cookies and local storage, they could be double-counted in the Viewers metric.
No. At this time, we don’t enrich tracking data.
When you make structural changes to an Arcade, such as adding or removing steps, there’s no consistent way to combine the step-level data from before and after the change. So, when this happens, we show you only the drop-off data that matches the current structure of your Arcade.
Changes that will cause this to happen include:
- Changing the number of steps
- Changing the connections between steps
- Changing the order of steps
Changes that will not cause this to happen include:
- Renaming the Arcade
- Editing hotspot text or colors
- Deleting a hotspot and re-creating it, if it points to the same step as it did before
Let’s say you’re hovering over Step 5 on your chart, and you see that there was 75% conversion from Step 4 and 20% dropped off at Step 4. This means that 5% of users did something else after seeing Step 4 — they probably used the nav bar or remote control to skip to another step. For simplicity, we don’t break these edge cases out into separate metrics.
This is also possible! Continuing the above example:
- Let’s say a viewer goes through an Arcade as usual. When they get to Step 4, they click the hotspot to advance to Step 5.
- They keep going, and get to Step 4 again, but this time, decide they’re done and close the tab.
- The viewer has now contributed to the conversion percentage and the drop-off percentage for Step 4.
- Over time, this can cause conversion and drop-off to add up to more than 100%. In other words, they’re not mutually exclusive.
If you’ve used Arcade for a while, you may notice that Insights is a replacement for an older feature called Analytics. Some of the differences include:
- Insights is easier to use and faster to load, thanks to a total redesign of both the data pipeline and the user interface.
- Insights includes a brand new Flow Insights page for every Arcade, showing detailed drop-off information about each step, accessible right from the flow builder.
- Insights introduces a restriction where Views only count if they’re onscreen for 3 seconds. Analytics reported all page loads (called “Impressions”) and computed both the “Engagement Rate” and “CTA Clicks” against this value, causing them to be much lower (and noisier) than the Play Rate and CTA Click Rate used in Insights.
- Analytics had a toggle to break out "Internal" and "External" views. Insights does not have this.
- Insights introduces the Average Play Time and Completion Rate metrics.
Insights relies on new tracking events that were first added to the platform on February 26, 2023. In order to focus on testing and gathering feedback on this beta product, we made the decision not to backfill any historical data into the Insights database.
To access data from before February 26, 2023, you can still use the old Analytics page, or contact us for a CSV export.
As we receive feedback, we may change certain parameters or features — for example, the Views threshold was originally 5 seconds and we changed it to 3 seconds. This could cause minor changes in the data you see during the beta testing period.
The Analytics page is accessible from a link at the top of the Overview Insights page. If you find yourself still using the old version, please let us know, and we’ll use your feedback to improve!
